“I think New York is CRAZY.

And interesting. Vibrant. And colorful. I think no one ever discovers all of it.

I’ve been here my whole life, and I’ll walk down the street, see a building, and think, I’ve never noticed that before. There’s always something new—or something old that’s always been there. But that’s what makes it interesting. Even just walking down the street and looking up, you might see a beautiful, really old building and wonder, How did I not notice that before — I’ve passed this 3,000 times?

So there’s always a little bit of an adventure here.

What advice would I give to people dreaming of moving to New York? Oh, for starters, I’d suggest waiting until November 5th—because their dream might be over. We’ll see. But in general: be here legally—that’s important. Come to New York with a clear idea of what you want to do here—and then you can pursue that. It’s very important to understand why you want to be here.

What do I think about the style of people in New York? I think it can be really inspiring and it can be kooky and creative or very conservative, depending on the neighborhood. Uptown, for instance, the women look polished and, for me, not so fascinating. But if you go to Brooklyn or areas with younger people, it can be truly fascinating and interesting. There’s definitely something different on every corner.

Advice for people who want to look more sophisticated? Well, I’d say

it’s always a good idea to keep it simple.

That’s my approach”.
